Osama bin Laden is Immortal

Yesterday Obama got Osama and the war on terror ended….? Of course not, wars don’t end and Bin Laden doesn’t die. The death of Bin Laden will not lead to an end to the war on terror or a decrease in the amount of global terror attacks. Osama was simply the boogeyman mascot for terror. He was made infamous by our American media as the mascot for all things evil. Americans know Bin Laden as the mastermind of the terror attacks on 9/11 that killed 3500 people. However, Americans forget that he did business with many powerful Americans and the American government financed the formation of Bin Laden’s Islamic Jihad Mujahadeen army that fought the Soviets in Afghanistan in the 1980’s and later branched out to become al Queda. We forget that past, but we remember that he was the ‘Mastermind of 9/11’ making him the most hated man in American for almost a decade. And because Bin Laden and a bunch of Saudi extremists (allegedly) attacked the U.S.A. on 9/11, the United States attacked Afghanistan and Iraq(but continued business as usual with Saudi Arabia). Through the ‘Axis of Evil’ Americans spread the war propaganda, the fear and the hate to North Korea, Iran and and they even tried to assassinate Hugo Chavez in Venezuela. The war marketing used American fear and turned it into misguided hate showing the strength of a well planned marketing campaign in a time of turmoil. At the same time the Patriot Act was slammed through Congress and the lies were abundant. The original Progress Label shirts were born from my reaction to the United States marketing efforts after 9/11 and the complicity of every major “news” outlet with the bullshit of our government.

Fast forward 10 years and we’ve settled into 2 undefined and ongoing wars that technically aren’t wars because we’ve never  passed war funding. But Obama got Osama and the war on terror is over! Wait, when’s the last time our government ended any war without large amounts of public pressure? If one believes that American wars are designed with tangible goals and actual plans that will lead to a definitive ending, they certainly haven’t been paying attention. Our current wars are designed to be maintained, not to be won. War is good for business, big business and the big banks. Winning a war isn’t nearly as good for business as maintaining a war. The war on terror is a great way to spend taxpayer money in the war industry. By not creating funding for these wars, the government takes money from general taxpayers and spends it on the war industry and our country falls deeper into debt. As we spend billions in undefined foreign wars, our government tells us that we need to slash social programs because we’re broke. And here in the homeland we see the government and the media increase their attacks on social security, medicare, women’s healthcare, and public media. What a beautiful shit show!
